Hi and Thank you for taking the time to read up on my story. I’m Brad Terrell and I have been a student of Yoga, Movement and Meditation from the earliest days of my childhood. I played sports, literally every kind. Team sports, solo sports you name it. I loved the ability to move and move with others. My father initially introduced Meditation to me through a Deepak Chopra Meditation disc. Even though I was only 9 and I didn’t fully understand the concept of meditation, it opened my eyes to a new world of perception and belief. Then shortly before entering high school my father who at the time was living in Africa came for a visit and introduced me to Yoga. It was a mixed Pilates and Yoga DVD. I can’t quite remember the name but it was just what I needed to get started. A blend of poses and transitions that challenged me. I thought to myself…How and why are these poses so difficult for me? I loved the challenge. From that moment I knew it had extreme benefits for my overall health and physicality.
Fast forward to my last year of highschool, I was on the starting lineup of my high school hockey team. We including 2 other teams were geared to be the top team in the league. Coming into the season I had re-injured my knee from an injury that had occurred 2 years prior, during a hockey game.. I dislocated my knee cap. That season I dislocated it a dozen times. Yes, approximately 12 times in 8 months. I had destroyed my knee. I had no one to tell me to stop playing…so I kept playing and kept hurting my knee until one day I had dislocated it completely… lower half of my leg was dangling like soft spaghetti.
I was put in a cast for 8 weeks, underwent surgery on the knee and ended up in another soft cast for another 6 weeks. As a 18 year old athlete…I was devastated. Little did I know this was a blessing in disguise. After a few weeks of physio, I found myself doing 2 -3 hours of yoga every day. I continued this practice for months, and realized I had never felt better physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It had opened, unlocked and closed doors that I could have never imagined. I then felt the conviction to teach others what yoga and meditation had given to me.
I later obtained my 200HR Registered Yoga Teacher Certification with Yoga Alliance in 2011 in Agonda, Goa, India. I studied under many teachers and ashrams in the world such as the OSHO International Ashram in Pune, India . I have also studied in places such as Zanzibar, Tanzania, San Fransisco, California, Warsaw, and Gdynia, Poland and through across India.
